don't quite get your point

If she were to change her mind now, it would look as if a well-paid Bill influenced her thinking in behalf of the proposed port operator. This would damage her newly found hard-on-national-security persona.

But BC gave sound advice, asked for and got a 45 day time frame in which to "investigate" things, i.e., enough time for the furor to blow over. After a few concessions, the deal goes through. The Clintons get their family petrobucks, she is still perceived as tough on national security, and the Arabs get the ports.

Slick, huh?

It isn't going to work, however, because the GOP is going to be relentless on it, especially her potential opponents in 2008.
