You can get a lot further in life if you use honey than vinegar and if you turn enemies into friends by finding the common ground. It's better to convince people than it is to use force. Appeasement is a form of negotiation - you give a little to get what you really want. Using force means you're not an effective negotiator and is a waste of resources.
