08:47 Needham on optical stocks: "Mourning period is over" does not justify skyrocketing stocks

Needham says the recent annual Optical Fiber Communication Conference as well as the recent explosion in share prices of optical component stocks provide a good opportunity to assess the state of the industry and discuss its appeal to investors. Although the mood from this year's conference was largely positive, firm says the problem of massive overcapacity remains unchanged, with the difference being that many vendors have raised funding during the past year, delaying consolidation. Still, firm believes that demand remains strong, many indicators are positive, and they think there are still a couple of good values in optical names after the recent run that reminiscent of 1999-2000, such as Bookham (BKHM), Emcore (EMKR), and Finisar (FNSR).
