re: but what I don't agree with you on is that it means that Egypt isn't our "friend."

few idiots celebrating 9/11 by itself does not mean much, agreed. The combination of the fact that there are not just few and that Egypt became "friend" after Israeli guns were pointing at the capital should make you wonder....

The country and its people do not turn overnight from worst enemies into friends - it's unrealistic. Celebration in Cairo is just a confirmation.....

Some Israelis are not just very fanatical about the Judaism but take it to an extreme which to degree make them just like fanatics on the other side. Majority of Israelis are not religious and the majority of the religious are not extremists.

There are 1200 million religious muslims out there even if they have the same ratio of fanatics to moderate the muslim extremists would still outnumber Israeli extremists few thousands to 1. Even if we would ignore the rest of the muslim world and take that extremely conservative estimate the arab only extremists would outnumber Israeli extremists few hundreds to 1.....

I know lots of Israelis myself (I used to work for an Israel trip provider). Just had lunch with a member of the Israeli Air Force in NYC, and most do like Americans. But some don't. That's my point. Some Egyptians don't either, and I agree with you on that, but what I don't agree with you on is that it means that Egypt isn't our "friend."

Some of my German friends hooked up with Egyptians on their last trip to Egypt. They had the best time and said that the Egyptians they met liked Americans, but hated our gov't. Then there is a woman in my cohort who is married to an Egyptian and they are going back to Cairo next fall. Her husband is a great guy, works for MSFT and likes Americans.
