His timing could not have been better. As Bush 41 sid during his reelection campaign. the recession was ending. It just wasn't visible enough to the average voter then. So Clinton got the benefit of the recovery. Plus the internet technological revolution was finally ready to explode.

I've often wondered, after his "irrational exuberance" speech, if AG wasn't told to shut up and not rock the boat. And the bubble roared on.
