ManyMoose, For one of our SI Las Vegas get-togethers, I took the Greyhound (Amtrak has no tracks going from here to there). Almost everyone else flew. Short story is that to the best of my knowledge I got home before anyone else did, largely because of airport security constraints.

What's more, I got to the Las Vegas bus station about an hour early. Deciding to kill some time, I ambled across the street to a seedy casino and played a triple-play poker machine. Well, that machine dealt me four aces with max coins in, which paid $800.00--more than enough to cover the cost of the overpriced, overrated Strip hotel we stayed in and our overpriced, overrated dinner.

Trains will always remains my favorite way to fly, and I too wish that Amtrak could/would provide service such as was standard with train travel prior to the dominance of airline travel but don't see it happening. - Holly
