The bubble this time in consumer credit and coastal housing. I wonder if Bernanke and company really feel they can take the air out of it without serious ramifications.

They can't. If they really poke the bubble, the resulting defaults, bankruptcies and foreclosures would trigger a depression that would make '29 look like a day at the beach. That's why they will talk tough on rates, keep fudging the numbers on inflation and try to keep the masses sleeping, IMO.
