NRA is an extremist group combined with an industrial lobby. This lobby promotes a product that has only one use, to kill. So it's not exactly performing a civic duty. This lobby also promotes a Jim Crow attitude where white folks are allowed to carry and collect high-powered weapons, but not blacks and other minorities who are the supposed threat. The NRA feeds on this closet racism as well as some kind of seditionist penis envy. The NRA also misrepresents what it's real purpose is, misrepresents the 2nd amendment and hides what it's really trying to accomplish. "Gun safety" my ass. They shrug off gun deaths as the price of doing business. That is just an excuse to organize a rightwing national militia which taps into the whole Timothy McVeigh attitude.
