No, that article is correct, as far as it goes.

After Xeon in July of 2001, Intel steadily built its 32~40 bit enterprise system architecture to 100% until about 9 months ago when AMD went from zero to about 7%, since then they have steadily built to 12% about 5 months ago and 14% today.* This of course, is current UNIT shipping, not cumulative or value share.**

So when the article says "zero about a year ago" they are like the droids that show the price of AMD stock and Intel stock over the last 9 months without taking into consideration the last 30 years.

Sort of out of context, you might say.

But this will just be our little secret.

*even this is sort of out of context because AMD rate of increase in market share is in fact decreasing.

**Mostly at Sunw exclusive expense. AMD sales to Sunw do increase its share of the x86 market but directly at SUNW's Sparc expense. A short of Enemy Mine, kind of thing.
