I thought everyone knew that it was democrat Robert Kennedy that prosecuted Hoffa and eventually put him in jail. Then Nixon pardoned him. The Teamsters then supported Nixon and Reagan.

Basically the Teamsters has been in the control of organized crime for decades. Only with the prosecution of the president of the union, Hoffa and later the federal oversight of the union kept it free of mob influence.

When ever you have a wad of money, there's going to be sharks trying to get it. Just look at all the crooked deals that Republicans have been into. Cunningham, Abramoff, Delay...these guys wield the heavy hammer on heavy deals. When there's a back door opened up in government where lobbyists can influence contracts and legislation for large corporations then only the people lose.

To say that the mafia is a democrat organization is pure bunk. Criminals come in all stripes, and the republicans have some of the biggest.

I'd say that the mafia and the corruption that they wield is pretty much non-partisan. They'll get to anyone they can coerce or strong arm. Sometimes people have to toe the line or end up with a new pair of shoes...concrete ones.

But the new Mafia, worse than the old Mafia, is the white collar criminals, like Bush buddy Kenneth Lay. They steal more money than the mafia ever had...and they have armies of lawyers to insulate them from ever seeing true prosecution and true justice. Yes the new corporate criminals put the small time mafia to shame.

Look at Bush's Pioneer and Ranger lists to see who are the biggest criminals.
