JF, But the point stands... the US used to be looked to as a symbol of enlightenment and freedom, not any more. Now we are a symbol of something else.

As far as I can remember, America has always been looked upon as the "buckaroo" of international politics. I remember when Reagan bombed Libya, and the news was full of protests with banners saying, "Yankee Go Home!"

Maybe in a relative sense, international regard for America is at an all-time low thanks to Bush, but Clinton wasn't that much higher on the scale.
