The problem with Islam is its contradictions. It believes in the literal construction of the Koran, a book that has everything for everybody. Depending on the religious fashions of the times, its peaceful or its violent sides ebb and flow.

We are seeing the ascendancy of the violent side. Since its acts are a part of religous dogma, there is little to do but hope that the Wahabbistas go out of fashion or that the pendulum swings to the other side. In the meantime, our only option should the Wahabbistas and the more violent Shias prevail is to defeat them. Our win would be God's will, after all, preordained.

We cannot appease the violent side of Islam, I think that's chrystal clear by now. We can promote the moderates, but at their peril.
