If Tony had testified, he would have spent many agonizing days on cross having every contradiction in his testimony ripped to shreds in front of the jury. Since just about everyone else he ever dealt with including his mother thought he was a fraudster and a liar, you can imagine how a jury would have reacted.

His defense only works when you assume everything he says is true and he did nothing wrong. Which does not match the other evidence, and certainly wasn't the jury's conclusion even without Tony testifying on his own behalf.

The fact that some of his fans can't accept the verdict won't sway the judge.
