Carolyn, country bob is right about fleas and cats and bubonic plague. Scattered cases of bubonic plague spring up all the time. Fortunately, we now have drugs to treat it but it is still a very serious illness and nothing to fool around with.

According to my critical care listserv, some cats on the other side of the planet HAVE been diagnosed with the bird flu. - Holly
