Philadelphians Against Santorum will get as many Philadelphia voters to the polls as possible in the November 2006 election. Santorum's positions on important issues like Social Security, the minimum wage, LGBT rights, gun control, healthcare, public transportation funding, education, reproductive rights and many other issues have hurt our city uniquely. Luckily, our city is also in a unique position to guarantee Santorum's defeat statewide. A large majority of Philadelphians will vote against Santorum. However, in a non-presidential election year, only about half of the city's voters come out. We can guarantee Santorum's defeat statewide if we could work hard to get 100,000 new and infrequent voters to vote in the November election who wouldn't otherwise be likely to come out. Philadelphians Against Santorum will give busy, but active, Philadelphians the tools they need to make phone calls, knock on doors and use email to effectively get new and infrequent voters to vote. Volunteers talking to friends, family, co-workers and neighbors is the most effective way to increase voter turnout. Philadelphians Against Santorum will also print lawn signs, make t-shirts and use media other than TV, like blog ads, billboards, radio ads, to get the word out about the 2006 election and increase turnout. Philadelphians Against Santorum will also sponsor rallies, and provide lots of other opportunities for Philadelphians to work to beat Santorum. ----------------------------------------------------------- "His web site says: “Legal reform is an important issue that I place high on the agenda in the 109th Congress, as it is crucial to curb lawsuit abuse.” His press release says: “Senator Santorum has supported 3 prior attempts to pass medical liability reform including measures targeting the plight of OB/GYN’s and emergency room doctors. Democratic opposition prevented the measures from moving forward.” Of course. When all else fails to explain, blame the “Democratic opposition.” But when you expose the gap between what he says and what he does the simple, inescapable fact remains: Whether it’s public school funds or medical malpractice lawsuits -- Rick Santorum has made a regular habit of separating the personal from the political by trying to get more for his own family than he apparently thinks other families deserve.
