And the math used to do so is not up the logical weight it's asked to carry. I'm fonder of paradigms than of math, particularly overweighted math. I think that his paradigms are valid, if stark, and that the answer lies in some combination of the two. I tend to side with Will on this if for no other reason than the obvious failure over the last few decades of the notion that poor people are abject victims, which came to the forefront in the sixties and hasn't let go. So until and unless the chicken folks acknowledge the egg and make some room in the victimhood domain for personal responsibility, I don't think we get anywhere.
