This_is_the_end, you said: "At what point would you decide that the US has gone too far? Is it even possible in your view?"

America is an anomaly. In fact, America is an impossibility. Throughout history, the most ruthless, most corrupt regimes plundered and looted, murdering and enslaving as they progressed. By all rights, America would have been developed by criminal gangs and despots. But, somehow, someway, America turned out to be big, powerful and the protector of freedom and democracy.

That said, I do think that America can go too far. I worry about the deterioration of our health care system, our educational system, our justice and court systems and the pollution problems with our air, water and food supply. I am also concerned about the deterioration in job benefits, and the increasing corruption within American corporations. Pension benefit and health benefit reductions have been reduced or eliminated for America's workers and that is not right!

If these trends continue to get worse, I fear for the future generations of both this country and this world. If America is not there to protect freedom and democracy, who will?
