I note one oddity: Saddam couldn't get rid of all the WMD documents, but somehow he got rid of all the WMD.

Yeah.. he did a great job on both accounts.

But on both accounts he was OBLIGATED to preserve BOTH the documents and physical inventory and present them to UNSCOM inspectors for inventory and eventual destruction.

The fact that we were able to find documentation that Iraq had produced or used a certain quantity of WMDs, but couldn't back up the destruction or expenditure of those munitions is the part that makes no sense.

Had Saddam TRULY been willing to cooperate with the UNSC resolutions, he would have just presented everything..

And btw, it wasn't just disarming Iraq temporarily. Saddam was obligated NOT to reconstitute his WMD programs in the future.

In this respect, he CLEARLY LIED about his intentions.
