I have this picture of india as a country where there is a hi tech component and a telephone & computer service component but beyond that alot of people living in poverty. In China folks are building widgets and selling them throughout the world. India used to export its brainpower to the world thru immigration. Now they get to keep these folks at home while the rest of the country seems to languish in a feudal and backward Hindu society. India may be more of a democracy than china but are nowhere near having the economic miracle that china has going for it. I am far from expert on this area--what do you think?

How close are we to taking out irans nuke facilities? I am thinking that this is becoming almost inevitable and may even have the euros support. What i worry most about if we do that is the ability of iranians to turn on their own global terror network.

Some people make it sound as if Bush gave them the green light just the other day. Speaking of "reality", all this talk is just silly politicking.

Yep.. Although I have to believe the logic holds that we should offer a similar deal to Pakistan in order to create some influence there as well, and show even-handedness (as well as circumventing Chinese influence there).

We should offer the same nuclear reactor technology that we've offered N. Korea in exchange for opening up their nuclear industry to inspection.

And while we might not be able to inspect either countries nuclear weapons programs, there's a great likelihood that we would be able to obtain significant intelligence as to their capabilities and intentions, as well as increasing our influence so that both nations will show greater restraint.

But as an additional point, increasing our foreign policy and military cooperation with Indian is indicative that both of our nations are beginning to view the potential threat of a Islamo-Fascist regime coming to power in Pakistan. It could be evidence that the Bush administration is hedging its bets with regard to the viability of Musharraf's current power base. It also provides a bit of motivation for Musharraf to take the necessary actions against the Islamo-Fascists in Pakistan that are likely driving us to advance our relationship with India.
