07:56 Packaging and testing houses expect demand to pickup from May - Digitimes

Digitimes reports packaging and testing houses in Taiwan expect demand to start picking up in mid May, as clients' inventory adjustments should have been completed by April, industry sources said. Judging from order visibility, the players in the sector have indicated that growth can be expected particularly in the 3G mobile communications and DDR2 segments, according to the sources. LCD TV driver ICs, and solutions for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (PS3) game consoles will also boost demand for packaging and testing, the sources added. Taiwan's leading packaging and testing houses Advanced Semiconductor Engineering (ASX) and Siliconware Precision Industries (SPIL), have predicted their revenues for the first quarter will decline on the fourth quarter by 6-9% and 5%, respectively.
