The war against Islamo-Fascism must be fought by moderate Muslims.

Of course it must. I've always stated that the REAL war that is underway is a civil war for the "heart" of the Islamic faith. A war between Luddite reactionaries who dream of past-Islamic glories, and moderates and progressives who believe the Muslim world must integrate into the international community.

But it's FAR easier for a militant to intimidate a moderate and peaceful individual than it is for a moderate to intimidate a militant fanatic.

Sure they must fight this battle for themselves. But that doesn't mean they have to fight it BY themselves, does it??

EVERYONE needs Allies and moral, economic, and military support.

All we are doing in Iraq is making it much more difficult for them, because those who side with Americans are viewed as Quislings.

That's both correct, and incorrect. Obviously the US has made mis-steps and permitted the insurgents to gain an initiative and popular support amongst Sunnis. That is changing now, IMO. It will take time, but many Sunnis are seeing that Al Qai'da and Zarqawi are not in their best interests.

The very fact that the dreaded civil war the MSM was proclaiming was underway after the Samarra Mosque was destroyed has not occurred is a HOPEFUL and VERY POSITIVE sign.

There has been violence, but not hundreds of thousands of Iraqis shooting each other in the streets. (at least not yet).

As for stirring up hatred.. What is it that they hate? That they previously held power until a totalitarian regime but now have to share that power with other Iraqis?

Some people are just going to hate us. That's plain and simple. But it's just as plain and simple that there are people who WANT AND NEED our presence.

Again.. all the Iraqis have to do is hold a referendum that calls for Coalition departure from Iraq. That's all I need to see happen for me to agree that it's time for us to go.

And until that happens, we should not follow a self-defeating delusion that everyone hates us.
