"Starving the beast" is the secret rightwing plan. To bankrupt our government by shifting trillions into the pockets of the rich and corporate interests, over-spending like there's no tomorrow then dumping the debt onto tax-payers. Since politicians have a hard time raising taxes much and getting re-elected, they see this as a brick wall the government will run into, whereby they can justify doing away with all government social programs, even the ones already paid for by workers. Along with the energy gouging, this is the biggest ripoff in world history. It will also result in a totally inefficient and unresponsive government which takes care of none of our problems. Even the military will be largely privatized and everything the govgebrnment does will mean big windfall profits for Bushie corporate special interests. This was the whole point of their coup d'etat in 2000 and 2004. This is not about conservatism, it's about massive corporate corruption and thievery at the highest level.
