That was Rummy's war on the cheap. I think bush will look back on his presidency and wondered why he listened so closely to one group of 41s advisors and not the other. He went the cowboy route where the bush the elder would have been far more newenglandy i suspect. If only Brokeback Cowboys had come out before 9/11, bush might have had a different take on being one.
You know Steve--there is still hope for Bush. If he ever allows himself to see himself and mis-served by his staff, cabinet etc, maybe he still can make a midstream correction. 3 years of lameduck to go with cheney holding the gun isnt something either left or right wants. The issues facing this country right now are just too serious to trade for laughs on the left and repetitive defensive boulderdash on the right. Country is more important than party and any individual--more so now than ever.
