I don't know about YOU, but personally, I'm IN FAVOR of the US standing up for fair and free trade, using our economic power and our influence to pry open closed and manipulated markets. ... Instead of just being an 'Uncle Sucker'. So, NO... I don't think at all that "there is nothing we can do to change that...."
