Maybe "the Republicans are going to shut down the government" issue as well. That looks like sensationalism to me. It was pretty exciting the last time. <g>

I'm sorry, I can't help finding something ironic in that posting... reporters are more biased to the left, according to the MRC. mrc.org MRC? Who are they? So I check their (perfectly open and honest) mission statement and find... Leaders of America's conservative movement have long believed that within the national news media a strident liberal bias existed that influenced the public's understanding of critical issues. On October 1, 1987, a group of young determined conservatives set out to not only prove - through sound scientific research - that liberal bias in the media does exist and undermines traditional American values, but also to neutralize its impact on the American political scene. What they launched that fall is the now acclaimed --- Media Research Center (MRC). mrc.org So, a group created expressly in the belief that there is too much liberal bias in the media declares that the media has a liberal bias!! ROFL. Next up, Catholic Committee of Cardinals for the Checking of Popes announces its findings on religion of the Pope... <w>

One can always find examples to prove one's theory, one way or the other. On the meta level, the Traditional Media skews Right, in its overall tone, emphasis on certain memes over others and avoidance of elephants in the room. And why would they not? Look at the corporate ownership; it is uniformly Rightist. I agree with you that reporters tend to lean Left and why wouldn't they? Of all the professions, they are closest to the political process, and see how it really works. But the ownership and editors matter most in determining what bias is passed on to the public.
