I really like the movie - my wife hated it.

The main criticism of "Crash" [and I agree with it] is that the portrayal of racism in LA is way over the top. It read like a liberal's hairshirt performance. But I must admit I enjoyed the movie.

My favorite movie from this last year was "A History of Violence." William Hurt was up for an Oscar as "best supporting" and lost out to George Clooney.

IMO the movie was a typical Hollywood smear job. If they want to talk about racism I don't know why they can't get their heads out of the gutter long enough to make a film that emphasizes the civil strides our nation has made over the last 100 years. I don't mean to say that racism and sexism don't exist.......they do........and probably always will, but Hollywood is powerful enough to influence societal thinking. This kind of movie only validates the notion that most people are racist and sexist. I came away from the movie with those ideas reinforced. There was nothing new, and for that reason alone I thought it was a big failure.
