re: your comment about "government default"

I don't know much about the details and specifics behind Treas. Secretary Snow's request to Congress for an increase in the debt limit and all the talk about the government going broke.....

but I do know of many instances in which the Executive Branch (President and Secretary of Treas.) have said that the government will have to shut down and no federal employees will be paid as of a specific date until some funding bill or another is passed on Capitol Hill.

Take what you hear and read with a grain of salt.

Hey... this is your government, where politics rule, and if the government were going broke in a few weeks, do you really think you'd only be hearing about it now?

And better yet, do you think the cats on
Capitol Hill would be "debating" and "posturing" about the request?

when this administration added that drug entitlement it was all over for fiscal solvency. Add that mess to Iraq, and what have you got, "brokeland". (I'll leave off the brokeback mountain joke segway here!!!)

Its going to take 10 years for the next team to dig us out of this fiscal disaster. Part of the problem is the completely incompetant fiscal team headed by John Snow.

I actually think we would have been better off if the Clinton team wasn't so good with money. The Bush dolts came in and had no sense of responsibility, like spoilt kids whose parents don't teach them the value of money.

Fortunately things can't get worse, we have spent all we have.

I'm not so sure default will make things better. You could have a very quick spin down the drain w/little chance of getting out.

In general, I dislike all politicians. Mind you, I don't think they're dumb. I also think that they know what the right things to do are, but the system won't allow it. However, Bush (or Rove) is the highest order of terrible.
