On the other hand, you can stick a 300GB hard drive that you get with rebates for about $75 in a portable enclosure that costs less than $25 and using something like Norton Ghost or better make duplicates of your hard drive(s) that increment automatically.

You assume that each of us has a neighbor who is an experienced hacker? I although agree with other risks.

OTOH the financial system is strong enough. I read only a few cases when actual damage was rendered.

How about a thin client stock? NWRE is a stock I bought years ago in the 1 buck range. To tell the truth, I didn't know much about thin clients back then.
