The above may well be true but one of the Muslims who is involved with the ownership of the company was on the tube the other nite saying that he saw no reason why the deal should not go through. Not very political of him but then he is a citizen of an autocratic society so he doesn't have to worry about such stuff.

I think the resistance to the deal from the US was totally unexpected by Dubai. He's likely saying he thinks the deal should go through because the security concerns are groundless (in his view). In other words, he doesn't plan to blow up what he just bought (duh!). People in Duba are like people in Hong Kong - they care about making money. In general they think suicide terrorist bombers are wacko.


I understand that the people from Dubai were surprisd by the reaction to the deal, but its not the deal itself that I was addressing in my post. It was his attitude.....and yeah, he may be a businessman but by now he knows that reaction of the American public.........his attitude was "screw you, we got the contract fair and square and we plan to hold you to it". It was not a smart way to present his case.
