<The UN was a good idea at the time, but its time has passed. >

On the contrary, with globalisation, there is even more reason to have a UN than when it started. It was the scourge of war that got it going.

It never was designed very well. It was just a WWII victors' club.

When things were designed badly long ago, it doesn't mean when they are not as good as can be, like a Model A car, that one reverts to horse and gig. More sensibly, one invents a better car.

The USA would be the greatest beneficiary of a good international system and the USA with only 4% of the world's population has a good opportunity to lead the world in a sensible reconstitution. The USA will live to regret letting the opportunity slip through its fingers.
