Energy wasn't the only commodity I was referring to.

I agree that energy has risen in the short run, over the last five years. It is over the long run that it is a much lower percentage of what people (in the world, not just Americans) make. What proves this is that they wouldn't have been able to have increased their usage by as much as they have over the last 50-100 years if this were not true.

Paycheck to paycheck folks don't feel it as much this time because they just charge it. Couldn't do it in the 70's when you needed the cash in hand. It will just take a lot longer to come home to roost this time..
