We've had it too easy for too long. The WWII generation is fast dying off. Hippie power is running our press and higher learning institutions with their total lack of values. We are a train wreck looking for a place to happen.

Don't forget Alexander Tyler's Eight Stages of Democracy.

I think we're somewhere in the continuum between apathy and dependence.

From bondage to spiritual faith;
*
From spiritual faith to great courage;
*
From courage to liberty;
*
From liberty to abundance;
*
From abundance to complacency;
*
From complacency to apathy;
*
From apathy to dependence;
*
From dependence back into bondage.

I hope you are wrong. At least this time around there are people like you sounding the alarm.

That's a good post OR. What can each of us do? I mean it, what can we do to make a small difference?

You say so much with so few words.

I fear that you are 100% correct about the degradation of our society. My children may live to see the end of the experiment in democracy. We can hope that something nearly as good will rise from its ashes like the phoenix.
