Sorry to learn of that but believe me its VERY common. People have threatened my wife, tried to bribe her etc etc but she is only following the rules. She doesnt have the power to change them. The whole thing reminds me of the "McNamara Whiz Kids" during the kennedy era who made many decisions based upon values and formulas and often where very wrong. The bottom line is this: When you take a patients care out of the hands of the DOCTOR and put it into the hands of a clerk following a rule book, medical care takes a beating, not to mention the Doctors morale. My eye doctor told me about a patient he had to watch GO BLIND cause he was FORBIDDEN to treat this patient when the patients condition was treatable, by the time they gave him permission it was TOO LATE. jdn
