I don't know how you expect Rahul to decode the cryptic "it really wasn't broken" BIOS comments from a readme file. But FILL is such a basic graphics primitive, that if it is compromised, all hope of decent performance is lost.

Sure they do. But if the processor isn't recognized, then the BIOS won't set the processor up with the processor specific information, if any. And there was lot of stuff that changed between the original stepping of the A64 and the E step, particularly with the memory controller and the HTT port.
