Don't forget slaves were bred to be big and powerful by their owners. African blacks are not usually great athletes, but US and Caribbean blacks are. So naturally the white plantation owners were always afraid of a slave rebellion, which was why they outlawed blacks from having weapons and were well-armed themselves. They also used Uncle Tom types to help them. This situation is one of the roots of the NRA mentality. Politically incorrect to say, but it's true.
