OT: There is a section on the parkway where you go down for about a mile and a half. I was doing nearly 40 MPH and could have gone faster with more gearing. The guy I was riding with told me the year before two guys were racing down the hill in a light rain. There is a left turn at the bottom and a rock face 30 feet later if you miss the turn. Their brakes didn't work well because they were wet. They had to be helicoptered to the hospital.

Another guy in front of me had a new carbon frame. They had just come out and he was very proud of it. His girlfriend unexpectedly showed up at about the 10 mile mark to cheer him on and give him a lunch she had made. We were in a large tight pack and he foolishly hit the brakes. There was a pileup and his frame snapped like a twig. My body helped the process. Some of us were ready to beat the crap out of him but he was already devastated by losing his bike.
