Sugar -> ethanol is king today, biomass -> ethanol will be king in the near future, not a real problem for Brazil as sugar cane is one of the better biomass materials should they switch to biomass/sugar -> ethanol utilizing the whole plant.

It will however produce much greater competition in the ethanol market and will essentially cancel Brazil's geographic advantage.
