You really don't even need to go through the groggy part if you don't want to. My dr routinely gives a valium to calm his patients before the procedure. If I had it to do all over again I would not take it. I'm pretty calm to begin with, I was not nervous and I'd just rather not be dopped up. It's really up to you, but each physician has their rules.

Are you going for monovision or both eyes?
