On this page there are some links to Iraqi blogs... might give a sense of life from the "Iraq street", as they say.

"I stubbornly refused to go to work today, although it was a semi-peaceful night before, with only the random AK-47 rattle nearby, or the distant mortar shell disturbing our well-deserved sleep. "

One comment from a blog that speaks volumes.

From another blog:

A kid who is 16 tells of how he is sent to Jordan for the summer; shortly after he leaves, his grandmother dies but he is not told of it until he is ready to return. What is the distance between Baghdad and Amman........400-500 miles? Nonetheles, there was no thought of the kid coming back for the funeral and no expectation on his part that he should have been told to come back. Does that sound normal to you?
