Perhaps, but the argument is that growth in China has gotten to the point where there is less dependence on consumers in the OECD countries to sustain their growth. Coxe refers to the Jane Jacobs book "Cities and the Wealth of Nations" in this regard (have it, have not read it yet). John Kaiser also presents this debate in a recent article in Resource World magazine in an article on Cyclical Bears vs. Structural Bulls. He thinks we will see a resolution of the debate relatively soon (like this year). I have taken positions accordingly (on the Structural Bulls side of the fence), but sleep with one eye open.
