It's one of the amazing things about the lack of planning of the current activity. The military NEEDS a massive English and Arabic PR machine going. English to maintain US supprt and to generate international support to the extent possible. Arabic to get the general Iraqi population on their side and against the groups that are blowing up the grocery markets. And we see and hear virtually nothing. I'm not a military person, and I can see the need. Why doesn't the military? Interesting. You think just like the Bush administration. They were doing the same thing but planting the articles secretly in the Iraqi papers because they were afraid the Iraqis would see them as being biased. What a surprise! As for trying to get the international community behind George's excellent adventure in Iraq, you must be joking. Read my lips: we invaded another country without provocation that was not posing a problem to us or any of our allies, alleged or otherwise. Why would you think the rest of the world would support the world's only superpower in such an endeavor? Making matters worse, we have bungled the job.Actually I recall hearing that one popular TV show in Iraq was one which interrogated captured insurgents, and showed them the death and damage that they had caused and asked them for explanation. So there may be something going on in Arabic, but seems there should be more, and there should be more English PR coming out. It can't be that hard to take 50 journalists to each and every mass grave discovered, to interview Iraqis that were abused under Saddam, etc. etc. EVERY DAY. Yet there seems to be nada. It just occurred to me - someone should make one of those Real World TV series (like Simple Life, Real World on MTV) in Iraq. That would be huge in the US.... I am glad you find this all amusing.......looking for ways to capitalize in terms of tv ratings. There is a war going on Iraq, Elroy. Yes, I know it doesn't fit your somewhat narrow definition of war, but nonetheless, real people are dying in Iraq, and in the past two weeks, by the boatload.
