I think people in the US have a hard time understanding what would make the US poorer because they really don't understand what made us rich in the first place.

True. The educational system tries to pound that out of students. According to the teachers it's bad to make money and it's good to be an artist. The artists are con artists.

What is good and bad is that they haven't needed to know in order to benefit.

The best of times. Never fear. The 'crats will be ending this delusion fast enough.

People in the US are awash in stuff, floating on a sea of goods and services yet they don't feel particularly wealthy and they didn't work that hard for all this stuff they own so they conclude that it has to be a mirage, an illusion, some sort of financial sleight of hand.

Well put. They claim they prefer personal relations to stuff but that's just a self-serving lie. With all this stuff few are happy. Before the pseudo boom of the late '90s I noticed people were more happy when interest rates were high, economy was slow, and nothing was happening.
