and the radio interview you heard was with George Clooney or Barbra Streisand? Wow we all engage in oversimplification at times but yours is a classic case of simpleton analysis.

The mullahs were for rafsanjani who lost because people saw him as part of the priveleged class. Students were too busy drinking cappucino to become involved. There is no major moderate movement in iran. Moderates have been intimidated and students bought off with some limited rights. So what we got was a populist, nationalist, non mullah, ignorant religious fanatic (small r). Yes iran is nationalist and nuke development is being used as a nationalist issue by mullahs to quiet reformers. Talking with the mullahs is not the answer chris even if clooney thinks so.

The reason we aren't acting intelligently with Iran IMO is because the administration wants perpetual war. It bankrupts the treasury by allowing 'legal' transfer of wealth to themselves, hikes up the price of oil, keeps people voting 'for the same horse' and keeps people willing to give up civil liberties for nonexistent safety.

Even with his utter lack of approval and popularity, Dubya is still getting his way. It's unbelievable.

I think there's something strange and terrible brewing for 2006. Would it be odd if Republicans still kept 100% power? What would happen if it also happened in 2008?

Very strange things are happening to the US of A. Who would have thought 6 years ago that this would be where we are? How much worse can it be in the future?

I heard that our ambassador to Iraq is at odds with Pace and the admin. Pace and Rummy are trying to convince us yet again that the violence and instability in Iraq are an illusion perpetrated by the media.

Whazza?

Apparently our ambassador thinks they're on the brink of civil war.

Whazza?

They are in civil war. Exactly what constitutes brink and in? Even children are finding that they're being labeled as Sunni and Shia at school. That didn't happen under Saddam.

It's unbelievable to think that Saddam was a more unifying force than American democracy.

Gee.
