Maybe you should try talking to Afghanis about the Taliban

What Afghanis thought about the Taleban is irrelevant. There are still Russians that think Stalin was grand, that does not mitigate the moral status of Stalin or his regime.

Whether or not he has anything to learn is also irrelevant. We hold the high officers and officials of governments accountable for the acts of the government. Ambassador or not, he chose to the mouthpiece of a regime that was morally reprehensible. That used to be enough of a statement of the moral fiber of a person for Yale. Goebbels would not, or rather should not, have had a chance to be admitted to Yale. I think it highly improbable that Yale would admit a former high official of the Pinochet government.
