re: A source close to the deal told the Capitol Hill newspaper members of Dubai`s royal family are furious at the hostility in Washington, and retaliation from the emirate could come against deals with aircraft maker Boeing and by curtailing the docking of hundreds of U.S. commercial and Navy ships each year at its port in the United Arab Emirates.

Of course they are furious. Listen to the rhetoric.

Do you honestly think most Americans care or even get it? It took them 5 years to figure out that Bush is a jackass and even now, when he smiles the right way and does some ole boy jawboning, they begin to waiver.

This country is in a bad place. I can't even begin to fathom why. We have people who are not well educated......and I don't care what degree they have hanging on their wall.......and who are not very well informed about our democracy, about the world, about our place in the world.

Lately, I seriously have been considering the notion that our gene pool is really bad........between penal colonies, religious mavericks and extremists, and people who were failures in Europe, we simply have a bad crop of people. I have no other explanation of why we are so badly off course; why we have people like the Harrises believing blacks are stealing the silverware and taking over when statistic after statistic indicates that their improved lot in life still puts them light years behind whites. I don't understand why these people do not see why the UN is important. I don't understand why they didn't see what we saw when the invasion of Iraq began. I don't understand why the Tims of the world don't understand that tax cuts hurt the little people and that when the little people are hurting so does the country.

States like Vermont, MN, WI, WA state, OR or NH are routinely criticized on these threads for their 'liberalism', and yet, they are states who command some of the highest quality of life statistics in the country.

In the past 6 years, everything I was taught and everything I believed have been condemned. And yet, those principles are the only thing still standing after 6 years. The whole thing is maddening........and I continue to make plans to leave.
