Sounds good on the surface but sadly our country is so full of red tape today it is not that simple. Here are some of the tie ups:
1. One would SUPPOSE that at A MINIMUM the mess could be bulldozed over and taken away. NOT SO, that is private property, even in the state its in. People must be given time to clear out their possessions AFTER it is safe to do so and then legal title must exchange hands to bulldoze the propoerty.
2. One would SUPPOSE that homes could be rebuilt immediately. NOT SO, first off a decision must be made as to whether its SAFE to rebuild in the damaged area, why, cause of the levees, what is going to be done with them. I can just SEE the lawyers lining up to file class action suits if homes are built and a SECOND flood comes along.
3. Finally, one would SUPPOSE people sitting around could be put to SOME kind of work. NOT SO, first off there are NO PEOPLE sitting around that are able and willing to work as those that can ARE working now. The problem is where do you put people to sleep and eat in a ravaged area?

Last but not least MONEY must be made available, but Congress SHOULD insist on a PLAN in place BEFORE the money is made available and a mechanism in place to INSURE the money is WELL SPENT. jdn

I couldn't name a "country artist" if one ran up and bit me in the leg (a higher probability than one of them singing.)..
