Congratulations on your new LCD TV! Now call that cable company and ask for their HD DVR (or go out and pay for your own HD DVR).

John - I would also recommend getting an upconverting DVD player, if you don't already have one. Denon's DVD-1720 is a good choice. It has a Faroujda chip that upconverts the DVD output to 720p or 1080i. DVD movies will look a lot better on your HD set. - Allen

John, U might wish to use the HDMI connection (if u have) to connect the HD cable box to u'r HDTV, so u can watch HD live. If the cable box also has component connections, the you can use to route 2nd digital signal to the TiVo, & record u'r programming. If not component not available, then next step would be to use S-video, which is an analog connection. Don't know how it will pic quality will be presented upon playback, but figure if cable box delivering HD signal to TiVo's inputs, it should be able to record a higher quality video for playback. I don't have a TiVo, nor do I subscribe to cable. I recently acquired DirecTV's new MPEG-4 HD receiver, the H20, & have relied upon a Replay for my recorded programming since 2000. Letting go of the Replay was tough, as the H20 interface kinda sucks, bought I still use the Replay to record HD programming. While the quality of the recording (via analog connection) is not real HD, the pic quality is far superior to anything I've recorded off SD programming. It's good enough 'til DTV's MPEG4 HD DVR is released whenever. If u'r sincerely interested in getting the most out of u'r new HDTV, then I recommend u look into receiving OTA (over-the-air) HD signals via an UHF antenna. The quality of my OTA HD recordings are just about the same quality as the over-compressed HD DBS feeds I receive from DTV. As the saying goes, garbage in, garbage out. Quality in, quality out. So, based upon u'r situation, all is not lost. U got something that is much better than before.
