Perhaps the dems - wisely - don't want to take the fall for the fallout to come.

That is an interesting perspective....it will be a hellacious 4 years trying to fix what has been broken, and I can hear the blame game leading up to the 2012 elections, about how the country is totally bankrupt at the "hands" of the Democrats....
and the mindless masses would believe it, especially with a Republican friendly press.

Although it sounds rough, I can hardly bear to think of what may be if the Republicans retained control of Congress and the Executive branch...any suggestions on a good alternative country with easy immigration laws?

I do think this thing will turn around, however. For me, this will be the easiest election ever. I will pull the Democratic-O-matic lever for all positions...something I have never done. I've always held people in low regard who vote party, not people. At this point, I would vote for a can of tuna fish over any Republican candidate, no matter how worthy they might be.
