I am very well familiar with that logic - used it myself more than once :-) The problem is that market is still segmented so in reality intel does not need to lower asps all that much to hurt amd. No doubt that it may hurt intel in a process but at this point it is not about profit it is about damage control.

OTOH AMD is far better equipped for the price war then they used to be
