"Liberals" turned out to be right about a whole host of huge issues, so that term is a compliment now. Although the correct term is "progressive". Modern-day liberals have divorced themselves from some of the old "bleeding heart" policies of the past. The typival democrat is now a centrist progressive. Common sense, honesty, fairness and responsibility being the main attributes. Progressives are fiscally responsible/conservative and forward-looking. Unlike Bushies. They are for "progress" in terms of better adapting the US to face the 21st century and leaving behind the ghosts of the past. Bushies have a backward view. Many of them actually want to bring back McCarthyism and erase all libertarian rights. They want to press our lives, then take this country down, loot it, divide it and ruin it. Bushies are all about how much they can steal right now, the short-term scorched earth policy of government. Which is why all honest Republicans are now busy divorcing themselves from Bushies.
